Mountain Biking Buffalo Trails
#127 of 279 mountain bike trails in Texas
This is a small parcel of city land which has had a few miles of singletrack cut into it. It is mostly prairie top with one drainage cutting through to provide just a little vertical relief.

This network lies just north of the McPherson Stadium in Canyon, TX. Park in the lot across the road to the north of the stadium and the entrance will be through the barbed wire fence just to the east of the lot.
I'm a begginer to the MTB , but I've rode motocross my whole life so I am adapting really quick. I'd say the fencline trail and the trails and the trails to the left of the trail head are very easy. The ones that go down into the canyon are a little harder but still pretty manageable for a newcomer. Definitely a fun place for some one getting into or has been riding for a while.
Thank |A nice trail for what it was designed for. It is a city owned and maintained trail (population 12,000). Therefore, it is a general use trail designed for the general population to ride on. It is more technical than the Paso Del Rio in nearby Palo Duro Canyon (But not nearly as technical as some of the other PDC trails) so it might be a good place to warm up if you are headed there. Especially if you are staying in or going through Canyon, Tx. Scenery is not bad (there are trains and cars nearby). Loose rock and sand. My 6 year old struggled on it so we'll probably tackle it a few more times.
Thank |It a fun beginner trail. Not difficult, but can be fun. Downslopes give opportunity for good speed, and inclines easy to climb. Good place to take those who are interested in learning mountain bike riding. Close to town of Canyon.
Thank |I think this trail is awesome, you can spend hours if you want to or make it a quick ride, nothing difficult but it's fun!
Thank |Nice, small area. Very easy access from I-27. Right next to the Interstate, room to park 18-wheelers by the parking area!
Thank |The trails are marked on the map by the entrance with site rules. Color coded signs are posted by the trails. Watch out for the cactus, rusted iron, and occasional broken glass. It appears the area was a dumping ground of sorts before the addition of trails. The singletracks are mostly bare, a few trails are grown over, but was freshly mowed when I was there. The city and the locals have done a good job on the trails and signage
Good hour-long riding available, Wal-mart only about a mile away.
As of 2013, this trail network remains a work in progress. There's about four miles of singletrack wandering through this small parcel, but more is in the works. Eventually, the city plans to develop this area further as a biking venue including more trails and signage. Unfortunately, the area is barren and you can see most of the network from almost any vantage point in the parcel, and it's bounded by a busy highway. Kudos to the locals for working hard to make the most of what's here.
