Located just outside the town of Smithers, Call Lake Provincial Park is an ecologically diverse area that allows visitors to enjoy both forested and non-forested wetlands, coniferous and deciduous forests, and rare grasslands.
There are two trails inside this park: the first is accessed from the end of VanGaalen Road, and is a 700m long trail that follows a ridge with some views of Bulkley Valley before dropping down to Call Lake.
The second trail is accessed from the end of Mountainview Road and is great for both hiking and biking. It is a 3km/5km stacked loop trail that extends beyond the park boundary. The upper part of the trail follows a ridge and provides great views of Bulkley Valley and Hudson Bay Mountain, while the lower part of the trail parallels the shore of Call Lake.
Please keep to designated trails, and be aware that bike helmets are mandatory in BC.
