The mountain bike trails in Calumet County Park normally open late spring/early summer-due to the Niagara Escarpment's springs, our non-motorized bike trails are usually open later in the mountain biking season. Bikers are always anxious to get on the trails but please call the Parks Activity Line for recorded updates on the trails. (920) 849-1494.
The bike trails are very popular with the mountain bike racers and the every day biker that just enjoys nature and the challenge the bike trails have to offer. Our 2.2 miles of trails wind throughout the park, offering single-track segments through the woods and many scenic views along the trails. You can stop by the office and get a map of the bike trials.
The 2.2 mile Sun Run trail is open to off-road mountain biking, walkers and runners in the summer, and fat-tire bikes and snowshoeing only during the winter months.
The North East Wisconsin Trails club newtrailswi.org maintains the trail and is working on another 2.5 miles of trail that should be open in 2021.
It started off good. Park office was closed but the girl inside saw me outside and was kind enough to open the door and give me a trail map. I asked her if the trails were marked better than the last review. She said "Yes". She either had no idea what she was talking about or she flat out lied. The trails are NOT marked at all. I spent more time trying to find the trail than I did riding. Over 40 minutes on the trail to go 3.88 miles. It was a total waste of my time. I would not recommend this to anyone. What would it take to mark the trails. Even if the trails don't 100% match the map, at least you could find them. I will never go back and if anyone asks, I would tell them not to go there. Some of the worst if not the worst trails Ive ever been on.
Thank |I went to the park office and asked for a map. When I got out to the trails I realized how bad the map was and how many turns there are and intersections on trails that aren't even on the map! it was hard to figure out where you are. When I came back I talked to the woman in the office and she said that they were looking to remark the trails and that a whole bunch of trails are out there that aren't official, but they look just like the trails you were to bike on. There is no way that the GPS mapping on the print map has accurate distance at all. There are places where it looks like the trail is far from the road that it runs parallel with, when in fact it is very close to the road. This makes it hard to tell if this is just a place that has been walked over and over and over by campers or the trail itself. None of the trails are marked at all. Maybe I'll come back next year when she anticipates that the trails will be marked.
Thank |Poorly marked and unmaintained. My first time out here in fall so leaf cover is heavy and the trails are almost impossible to follow. I just wasn't impressed at all.
