Mountain Biking Canyons
#170 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
A few buddies and myself have been working on this trail as our pet project. We have built a few shore stunts (a 5-foot ladder drop, creekbed wallride, a few jumps) and have lots of plans for the future. This is a downhill trail with some very fun technical sections including a rut section that will throw you over the handlebars before you can say ouch! There are some decent dirt, shore, and boulder jumps. One very important note: This trail should be run with a SHUTTLE!!! Unless you want to pedal your 30+ lb downhill bike up a 5 mile gravel road, park a car at the bottom using the directions i have included above. The short section of the canyons trail ends after a creek crossing and the trail will split left and right. Take the right trail uphill to your car.

Get on US 321 (Blowing Rock Rd.) and head into blowing rock. Turn into Canyons Restaurant and turn right once you get into the parking lot. The trailhead is in the far right corner of the parking lot that is closest to 321 if you are facing Canyons Restaurant from the road. Park your car in this corner of the lot and rip it up!
SHUTTLE DIRECTIONS: Head into Blowing rock on US 321 BUSINESS. This will take you into downtown Blowing Rock where all the little shops and tourists are. You want to turn onto GLOBE ROAD, but i think the part that connects to Bus 321 is actually called something else... You will know you are on Globe Road when the pavement ends and you are on a washboard gravel road heading down into Pisgah National Forrest. You are going to drive down globe for about 3-4 miles until you see a pulloff on the left with some firewood and other junk piled up. There will also be a 4x4 trail that starts there. This is where you leave your car and have your second car drive you back up to the top. Make sure you lock your car, there are some sketchy backwoods mofos out in Globe.
