Mountain Biking Carhart Trail
#865 of 1,383 mountain bike trails in Colorado
Carhart is a machine cut singletrack trail with good flow and some descent elevation change over its short distance. Its a nice trail in a beautiful forest of ponderosa pine, Douglas fir and white fir. It connects with other trails, but only Squirrel Trail allows mountain bikes. So Carhart is ridden as an out and back.

On the south end of Pueblo, take Exit 94/Hwy 45 off of I-25. Go west 2.8 mile on Hwy 45 to Surfwood Ln. Turn left onto Surfwood Lane, go 0.6 mile, and take a left onto Hwy 78. Follow Hwy 78 west for 22.0 miles until you reach Mountain Park Road. Turn left on this dirt and follow it about a quarter of a mile until you come upon a closed gate with a sign that says "To Carhart and other trails". Park on your left. Ride/pedal through the gate, and up the little hill, past an archery range and into a field where the singletrack will begin. It's only about a quarter mile from the parking and well-signed. It's super easy to navigate.
