Climb thru dense forest on ST paralleling creek. Cross fire road and continue up thru clear cut section and then on into more forested area. After hike-a-bike across scree field, find ST on right and continue to climb. Near the top, you'll roll thru grassy meadow and climb just a bit more until you summit Larch Mountain where a set of radio towers sit. Enjoy the view!
From there you have a few options: descend the way you came, follow loose gravel road south of radio towers to Thrillium TH, a steep, fast DH course that ends at your vehicle; or take the doubletrack to east of towers that joins the continuation of the greater Tarbell loop, an epic 20 miler.
NOTE: the gate near the top of Thrillium is open and a new parking lot has been installed including restrooms. You can park at top of Thrillium and ride up 1.5-2 miles to radio towers as a shuttle option to Cold Creek
Its kinda hard to drive to but its built well and really fun to ride. The trail starts with a steep rocky descend if you start near the top and leads to nice flowy section with great bermed corners and nice jumps on the side of the trial.
Thank |Typical NW out-and-back climb/DH although this DH is great for anyone. Features along the way to challenge the advanced rider or simply ride around them. Get to the top and take in the view of the Vancouver/PDX valley. Cold Creek Mountain Bikers maintain the trail and do an amazing job enhancing features, draining, and so forth.
