Mountain Biking Comeback Trail

  Add a review
#154 of 169 mountain bike trails in Missouri
#27,410 in the world

This section of trail is the beginning of the River Trail System that extends from the southernmost tip of Sunbridge Hills Conservation Area. It lies within River Bluffs Park. It is the park that's not a park. It was never fully developed and only two stone structures from the 1930's remain.

The trail starts with a climb to a scenic bluff top ridge before descending to one of the stone structures, passing directly through it. It joins The Comeback Trail immediately after.

A local guide or the MTB Project mobile app are highly recommended as signage is currently nonexistent.

The Exposure Spur skirts along the side of the overlooking bluff near the start. This spur/connector trail is the preferred route. Known locally as "Little Moab" this spur has two areas of high exposure. One can take the main trail up the steep climb and avoid these sketchy narrow sections. But, unless you're scared of heights, take the Exposure Spur and see why we call it "Little Moab."

When you see the left turn off the main trail, take a left to see the stone structure (locals call it the chimneys). If you remain straight at the left turn, you'll begin Lower River Bluffs trail.

This is a fast non-technical trail consisting of mostly hardpack. The overlook at the top of the trail is a little looser since most brave souls take the Exposure Spur.
