Mountain Biking Comite Trails
#3 of 51 mountain bike trails in Louisiana
Very close to Hooper Rd. park .a lot of people park here and ride both with a short road ride to the Hooper Trails .No big hills but enough bumps and humps to make this a fun ride for the day or just an afternoon workout.

Off Hooper Rd. in Baton Rouge...
from I-110 take Harding Blvd. east to Hooper Rd
towards Central....park entance is just before (west) of the Comite bridge on Hooper Rd.
the best in Baton Rouge LA. I give it a four because it doesn't have a lot of jumps but it is a fun place to ride.
Thank |I dislocated my shoulder this morning 15 June 2019
Thank |on the yellow bridge around check point 23 or 24.
Watch your speed!!
The bridge should be wider
Did this one for the first time over the weekend. Not one I'd consider a beginner trail, but there are side trails to avoid the tougher sections, so I guess those would be consider "beginner" level. A few steeper drops, with short burst hills, with flowy sections that are fun. Very, very clean, and well maintained, which we can all appreciate. Can't wait to go back!
Thank |Super flow! With a couple techy root sections and steep drops. Also, definitely an intermediate trail with some beginner options. FUN
Thank |Connect to Hooper Road trails for a super loop for some great rural swamp views. I love it. Thank you BRAMBA, amazing job.
Went for a ride on July 4th. Super fun!!! First run through, I skipped 21-22. 2nd run I made sure and made the left. WOW, those 2 drops are worth coming back for. Love it! Will be back. Thanks BRAMBA
Thank |Who rated this a beginner trail? Intermediate at he very least. Lots of short ups and downs. Lots of roots. There's a table top jump that's pretty fun. I always see snakes here. Stay on the beaten path, I think some of those trails were used for dirt bikes once and are impossible to pass on mtb. The beach and the point are cool areas to chill but they are over grown. The trail is not well marked. You can get to he hooper road trail from this trail but the path is completely overgrown and I got lost a couple times trying to attemp it. Don't get me wrong, this is a fun trail, but just be careful out here
Thank |I've been riding the trail for over a year now as my home trail. In my opinion this is a great trail to learn on once you have basic bike control. The vast amount of roots make for challenging rides for beginners. Conquering the short steep rooty climbs takes some practice. Also negotiating the tight areas that are in the low lands of the park can prove daunting due to what seems to be perpetual mud. Towards the end of the trail, the turns seem to open up and you can carry much more speed to the finish. Overall I feel like this trail has a great mixture of good elements to ride though there isn't much elevation change like there is at northern trails.
Thank |This is the best trail I have ridden to date. Kudos to BRAMBA for the way they maintain these trails. Lots and lots of technical riding. Giddy up!
Thank |One of my favorite trails. However, there's a few caveats. There are no huge hillclimbs like some other nearby trails (Mt. Zion or The Beast), which means there aren't any huge downhills either. With that, this is a very nice flowing trail. Fun and somewhat challenging. Always a nice ride. There can be a few wet spots after a rain, so be careful.
Thank |Great fun trail . Has a bit of everything . Definitely worth going to living near by . I drive from new Orleans every weekend and ride it .
Thank |Linked up with the local bikeclub for a night ride. The trails were in good shape. This was a fast and fun ride with nothing technical.
Thank |Fun, technical trail with easy cut offs for beginner riders. Trails could use some better marking, Between Comite and Hooper there is a good day of riding. The trail was not crowded but it appears to be a well used trail and well maintained for the most part.
Thank |Interesting ride. Certainly some old areas that you need to be wary of, lest you take a drop!
Thank |Great flow.
Thank |This is a great trail to ride. It's got a great variety of short climbs and descends. It is a beginner friendly trail but has a good bit of alternate routes that are more suited for more experienced riders. The trail is well kept and maintained. Everyone I have met there is very friendly and open to all types of riders.
Thank |My friend and I went on this trail the other day as first time mountian bikers. It was fun as hell. I'm not surr how tracks are rated but it had some obstacles that were pretty tough. Just word of advice to new commers go slow cause things will jump out at you. Great time will be going again next week.
Thank |Very nice trail, well worth the 2 hour drive! Local riders were a tremendous help with offering advice and trail flow even though the trail itself was well marked. As far as the riding goes, more or less flat with some flow areas and berms. There are a couple of sections like "skid mark" that make your senses come alive. A lot of scenery to take in that make the trail that much more enjoyable and there are more trails across the road and under the bridge to make a pretty respectable loop. I will most certainly be back here to ride and now that I know what to expect, I will be picking up the pace. Great job by the BRAMBA guys with all the hard work. Keep it up!!!
Thank |Basicly its open , if you enter at hooper. 4 mile into hooper, highline connects to hooper rd and ' divers/ canal, then 1.5 mi to comite ranp out of mud/ditch, 2 mi to b room wat station, finished comite loop, back to mud/ canal, hooper rd, highline , 1.5 mi back to hooper waliking trail head(total 14 miles) . Good exercise, muddy
Thank |Did a very short run on these trails taking the easier trail link, so cannot vouch for the entire circuit. The challenging terrain does drop and wind through jungly growth. Well marked trails, but parking at trailhead somewhat limited, esp. with a big rig in tow. Hikers/families do share the same trails so potential conflict there!
Thank |The Comite River Trails and the Hooper Road trails are the best singletrack MTB options in the Baton Rouge, LA, area. Comite trails "advanced" loop is about 5.5 miles and the "beginner" loop is about 3.5 miles. This is mostly a flat trail and an excellent post-work jaunt. There are a few short, steep climbs and drops but no serious climbs or descents. Elevation gain/loss is probably +/- 20 feet at best. Two "bowl" areas with dirt jumping fun. Trail map kiosk at the trail head and at "the bowl". Trails are routinely maintained by BRAMBA. Trails are sandy/dusty when dry and slick clay when wet. Nice facilities with bathrooms, picnic pavillion, and bike wash.
