This ride is a point to point on the Continental Divide. It begins with a short
section of singletrack, then follows the Anderson Mountain Road, then back on
singletrack on the CDT.
From Chief Joseph XC ski area, look for the big CDT sign above the highway.
Cross the highway on the singletrack and wind through the woods for 1/4 mile
or so. Here you join the Anderson Mountain Road #081 and follow it for about
6 miles. It is worth the little extra mileage to go to the top of Anderson
Mountain but not the junction w/ the CDT after the last steep switchback on
the climb to continue the ride.
Once on the CDT you follow doubletrack for 1/2 mile or so looking for old, faint
CDT markers to the right. Here the singletrack starts on Trail #6111. The trail
is obvious all the way to Big Hole Pass staying on or near the divide. There are
great singletrack sections and there are gnarly ones and there is hike-a-biking.
