Mountain Biking Cowbell Hollow

*****   Add a review
#31 of 293 mountain bike trails in Pennsylvania

Head back out White Deer Creek Road toward McCall Dam State Park. Make a right onto Cooper Mill Road and climb the hill. You will come to the opposite end of Cowbell Hollow from which you parked. Head right on Cowbell Hollow. It will dump you out behind the cabin that you parked in front of.

The down hill on the side of the cabin is very rocky but this trail is pretty awsome even if you don't like the rocky stuff.

No idea why this trail is rated as high as it is. Absolutely horrible. Definitely not worth the hour and half drive.

Actually, if you park at the coordinates at Nittany MT RD, you can take Top Mountain Trail to Coopers Mill RD. Top Mountain is very challenging with it's many rock gardens which will cause some hike-a-bike. There is a great scenic vista though! Take Cooper's Mill to Cowbell Hollow trailhead. After reaching the cabin, you can ride back to your car. Great Ride!!

Did a loop a few weeks ago. Cowbell along w Duncan Trail. Good ride but not great. Cowbell was cut wider for horses. More fun when it's tight.

Always a fun ride. Park @ intersection of white deer & cooper mill roads. Ride .8 miles up the hill / gravel road turn right. Good single track. Nothing to hard. Careful on the 2 bridges toward the end of trail. Be sure to take the proper angle. Back up the gravel road to car. 6 mile trip.

The only thing that would make this trail better would be if it was longer! Don't park where the GPS coordinates bring you on Nittany Mountain. Park near where Running Gap and White Deer Creek Roads intersect. There is a cabin at the trail head off White Deer. If you start there and go back along the gravel road to Cooper Mill to the other end of the trail, it may give you an overall better ride. It starts uphill then it is mostly downhill back to the cabin. Great secluded ride through the forest. Some rocks, but not impassible like some of the other local trails. Enjoy! I sure did.

Fun for a short afternoon of riding. Fun short downhills.

We parked of White Deer Creek Road just east of Cooper Mill road. Climbed the hill up Cooper Mill and headed right (east) on Cowbell Hollow. When we got to cabin at the end of the trail we decided to go back (west) on Cowbell Hollow again. A lot more challenging going west, but still had a good ride. Really fun trail with a fast down hills going east.
