Mountain Biking Chalk Creek Drive / CR 162
#883 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
CR 162 is the county road that runs all the way up to St. Elmo. It begins as pavement down low and then soon transitions to dirt, climbing up a gorgeous mountain valley. Along the way it follows a steep mountain stream, and past a mountain lake.

This is a decent road ride during the off season (before Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day). In the summer the traffic can be crazy. A cross bike would be great for a ride all the way to St. Elmo. I've ridden my road bike, even on the gravel part for a couple of miles when it's hard packed.
Thank |Mellow dirt road with beautiful scenery.
