Mountain Biking Crooked River State Park
#268 of 403 mountain bike trails in Georgia
Trail is mostly flat, good for stretching out those muscles and riding flat out on a wide easy trail. It's also good for younger riders that are just learning and you are wanting them to get into something. There are 3 different trail systems that can connect into one big loop. Each trail has its own name, Palmetto Trail, Sempervirens Trail, and the Bay Board Walk Trail. The Trails are relatively flat and not hard. The Sempervirens Trail is very rooty, but easily navigated through.

From exit 1 on hwy 95, go east on St. Marys Rd. Stay on St. Marys rd until you come to Charlie Smith Senior Hwy or Spur 40. Turn left on Spur 40 and go aprx 3.3 miles Crooked River State Park entrance is on right. There is a $5.00 park fee unless you go on Wednesdays, it's free then.
First reviewer is spot on with synopsis of the trails. Very flat, very minimal technical opportunities. Nice place with some beautiful views of the Crooked River.
Thank |Trails are very novice/beginner/kid friendly. One exception to this is a short hiking trail along the river on the Simper Virens Trail. This trail has loads of potential with some good elevation change over old dunes/river banks...this section is very narrow along the river with 20 drops down to River if you misstep...large rooted areas and not maintained. Had a lot of fun as we carved through old hiking paths. Beware of ticks and don't expect this area to flow until the trail is maintained or ridden more.
A good beginner trail that also allows hikers. Mostly packed sand with some soft spots, areas with exposed roots, and a few board walks.* Review edited 3/5/2012
