Mountain Biking East Loop

****   Add a review
#28 of 90 mountain bike trails in Kansas
#4,969 in the world

Tight twisty singletrack through tallgrass and trees with some short ups and downs into an old river wash. It's a good workout if you take a couple laps. It is usually ridden CCW, but switch it up for something new. This is city land and they are supposed to help us maintain it.

Getting there
There is a big Dillon's store at Cloud and Ohio. Go east about half a mile to the flood control dike. Ride south on the dike about 500 feet then ride down the east side to a wooded area by the river. There is a chain link fence on the side of the whole trail area. Enter on either side of the fence.

What a fun ride. This reminds me of the trails I rode as a kid. Just plane fun. You spent all day riding the whole trail or pounding the crap out of one or two specific spots. This trail is fairly flat but has a couple of ups and downs. The highlight of this trail is the high banked turns. These two features keep the trail from being boring. There are a lot of tight turns and try not to get hung up in the chain link fence. Change direction and this becomes a totally different ride. The trail was well groomed so you can ride this worry free. I had a good time even stopping to take pictures. This could be a fast ride.

This is a nice little bit of tight n' twisty in the middle of the little town on the prairie. There is some fast, flowy meadow riding sprinkled in with some very tight, barely-wider-than-your-handlebars stuff in a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees. The variety of trees makes for a nice little ride. Despite the narrow spots and one sharp drop into a drainage, the whole trail is beginner friendly.

A shorter fast flowing trail. Park at the end of Cloud St. Then follow the dike about 100 yards to the right and the trail will start at the bottom of the dike on your left side. Lots of fast twisty smooth trail on this shorter loop.

Good little trail in the middle of town. It is accessed off of the levee trail in between Magnolia Rd and Cloud St. The trail starts just inside a chain link fence that is on the east side of the levee.
