This is a beautiful outing in a seldom visited mountain range. For the best all-singletrack route, start at the East Tensleep Trailhead just north of the USFS Tyrell Ranger Work Station. Most of the elevation change is gradual, but there are a few very steep climbs that will force most to dismount and push a bit. The trail surface ranges from soft, smooth pine needle-covered trail to continuous babyhead-to-boulder sized rock gardens. Route finding can be a challenge as the trail disappears in a few places, especially in open parks. Overall, this is a great ride for the explorer looking for something new.
