Mountain Biking Elk Meadows Loop
#28 of 319 mountain bike trails in Idaho
This is one you really should ride while in Stanley. Next to fisher/williams this is probably my favorite ride in Stanley. It's a nice casual loop that that starts and ends at the stanley lake campground.

This trail starts from the camp ground at Stanley Lake
Super scenic ride! Most definitely on the XC end of rides with very little technical riding, but still an awesome loop. Idaho trails generally are more buff than most and this definitely falls into that spectrum, but still a really fun ride!
Thank |Real fun trail in Stanley. Starts out with a dirt road climb, then flat, semi-rocky singletrack. I wasn't wowed until I got to where it started going downhill, not far after the flat rocky part. The trail just got better and better, fast, flowy, enough rocks to keep you on your toes. Great views. After that fantastic singletrack, the doubletrack that you climb and takes you back to the car was closed due to fires, so had to ride back on the highway to the original lot. Didn't hurt the experience, still a great ride.
Thank |Great trail. Starts out with about a 3k climb and then cuts left off the main road to a single track. Sign the check-in clipboard here.
Up next is a rocky section that turns downhill after a bit to the meadow. If your planning to hang out here bring bug spray!
Then a really nice tree/meadow section for a while. Has some short easy boggy parts, not bad though.
Next a short easy climb to meet another trail entrance from the north side. Another short climb bring you to the best part yet. Beautiful, huge meadows with incredible views of the Sawtooths. Then some great open wooded sections until meeting up with a two-track. Again great views along this section ending in a long downhill to the main road.
Less than a mile road ride back to your car at the end of Stanley Lake.
My one suggestion - know the forest service numbers of the trails or download the offline version on this app to help keep you on track in a couple of places.
Highly recommend - the initial climb is worth the rest of the trail!
Thank |Nice track around Elk Mountain with high speed sections and a dozen small jumps midway.
Thank |A bit of rocks, some single track, some doubletrack and a bit of road to cool down.
Bring the family: there's a nice little lake beach next to the parking space.
Fun trail with good scenery. No major climbs. A little rocky dropping down to the meadow. Good beginner loop or warm up for bigger rides in the Stanley area.
