Mountain Biking Evansburg State Park

****   Add a review
#47 of 293 mountain bike trails in Pennsylvania
#1,904 in the world

The first climb into the trail is the most brutal. Lots of logs, rocks, some uphill, some downhill. Get off the mountain and ride along the creek for some faster paced single track.
Easy not to get lost. Surrounding the mountain is an old quarry road that will lead you back to the parking lot.
Hunting is allowed so be careful.
The trail is maintained on the third Sunday of every month. If interested in helping contact... [email protected]

I'm a beginner. Take this as it stands. I've ridden bikes my entire life though generally on road. Road, fixie, single speed.

I rode part of the "white"? trail and linked it some off shoots today and it was great. Started at the welcome center, rode back down the road to a gated turnoff with a trail marked "no horses" and had a blast.

A few days ago I started at skippack trail head by the golf course and was very intimidated. I'm going back but the area I was in today was very good. Single/double track. Relatively smooth. All in all, a good day. I'll be back Thursday (it's Tuesday).

Surprising good amount of trail and elevation packed into a small footprint. Be prepared for some out and backs and definitely would recommend hitting this trail with someone that knows them for the best experience. That said, there is some great technical and steep descents to be found here unlike anything else in the area. There has also been a good amount of trail building done so I think the 5 mile figure is out of date (might be closer to double that).

Evansburg State Park is very easy to access and has 2 sections of mountain bike trails connected by an abandoned road. The setting is beautiful and the course has a great mix of flat areas and hills. Up the street a mile is the Eagleville Tavern which is a wonderful spot for a post ride beer with your buddies.

Trails are in great shape compared to what they were last year. Just finished 5 mile loop ride with local group that meets there at 6 on Wednesdays. Check out their Facebook page for more info.

First uphill is a killer. Lots of branches down and loose rocks. The overgrowth is a lot. It is a fun trail when clear. The downhill is an adenaline rush. Not for the novice.

Narrow trail with a lot of thorn bushes and overgrowth. Not many difficult root or rock sections. The only obstacles are downed trees/logs. It would need some maintenance to become a fun ride.

Counted 17 downed trees plus two to go under (off the bike), trail has a lot of potential, just needs a little more TLC.

With all due respect this park has a ton of potential but without any trail maintenance it lacks the ability to get any real speed. There is a tons of washout and erosion. Tons of rocks and tree roots. With all the overgrowth it's hard to see far enough ahead to know what was coming up. There must have been 5 trees blown over onto the trail. I waited two days after rain and it was still very wet in some spots. All in all its a beautiful park and has some scenic views but I won't go back anytime soon.

Rained a lot the day/night prior (Oct 14th was day of visit) so trails were wet and muddy. Horse trails and loops were in good condition, however some muddy sections were too deep/watery to go through without getting stuck. Great cardio, some real nice smooth and packed portions, lots of lead coverage and rocks galore, got real muddy- totally worth it

Nice little loop for an weekend afternoon ride. Quick uphill to start with a little rocks, roots, and log jumps sprinkled in along the way. Great little loop and well maintained trails. Went through it one way then turned around and rode in the reverse. Overall, a good little loop and single track. There are maps at the visitor center on the left that you pass while driving to the parking lot at the trail head. They're not very detailed, but it gives you an idea of what to expect along the way. They are in a wooden box on the wall outside the entrance if the building is closed. * Review edited 8/5/2012

Dedicated mtb trail is a really decent singletrack. Lots of rocks, roots, rollovers, etc made it a suprisingly challenging ride. Also got some major cardio along the way. Great scenery and some offshoots worth exploring. Fun ride to hone up on the skills and cardio.* Review edited 8/26/2011

Rider questions

Q: Does anyone know current trail conditions? I'm traveling to this area next week and hope to check it out.
A: I was out yesterday and had a blast. Keep tabs on the apps too or you'll end up leaving park on some hairy single track along a chain link fence that eventually dead ends at bottom of hill near creek. Then when you follow trail along creek it ends at a washed out creek bed that can't be crossed which means bushwrac
