Mountain Biking Fairview Trails (Bowie Nature Park)

#68 of 202 mountain bike trails in Tennessee
#3,643 in the world

This is a nice ride. The terrain is not ultra-technical and can be ridden by beginner and expert alike. The main loop runs about 7.5 miles, a nice distance. This can be cut down for the new rider to about 4.5 or increased to about 9.5 miles via an outer loop for the more advanced rider.

Getting there
"Take Hwy 100 out of Nashville (at the 100/70 split stay left). Follow this for many miles (est. 20) I will get you more precise mileage. Now the Highway 100 construction is finished, you can go from 70-100 split to Fairview, but watch out because Fairview is becoming a speed trap. Go past the new entrance to Natchez Trace Parkway...You will enter the city of Fairview (obvious by the signs on the road). You will pass a Hardee's on you left and a strip mall on you right (if you see this you are doing great). Continue straight for ~1 mile. on you right is a large company called France Industries. Immediately after their entrance is the entrance to the park (TURN RIGHT). Follow the main road straight in until you come a parking area with restrooms and the lake. Park and R-I-D-E...Trails stem from everywhere!

Love the Perimeter Trail. Easy ride and perfect for my trail dogs. Slightly techical in some spots and also had some decent inclined, but the down hills or even better. The only cautionary note I'll add is to be mindful of the leaves and Pineneedles on the ground. Made the trail slick in spots and also kept rocks and roots well-hidden in places. Will definitely be back.

Fairview offers beautiful, relaxing, wide trails but it is very much a beginner's area and offers nothing technical, no speed and I really don't consider it to be a mountain biking experience. Its a scenic park for hiking and slow riding with a partner.

A good trail for beginners, watch out walkers, runners and horseback riding on wednesday. It cost 2 dollars a day to ride there

Very much a beginner trail, but had some fun downhill parts to let loose on. Very wide track makes room for more than one person. No techy stuff so if you're hardcore into that you'll probably get bored... just a good relaxing stroll through the woods.

Rode 8/2009. Had not ridden this trail in 2 years, but came back with the wife. She is a beginner and this is an easy trail to learn on. The city of fairview has spent some money into upkeeping the trail system. All the trails now have nice signs with mileage and are well maintained. Great for a beginner or someone who is looking to blaze 5 easy miles.

Although this was my first trail, I thought it was awesome. I have ridden it twice and it has great scenery and is well manacured. Parts of the trail are easy, but others are challenging. Recommended for everyone!

Great easier trail! I'm used to Hamilton Creek, but wanted to take my wife on something very beginner. The outer loop is really nice, met some cool people on the trail There is an old abandoned cemetary along the trail, pretty spooky looking (great Halloween trail I guess). Saw lots of deer on the trails, they just looked at me with a puzzled look (as a lot of people do), then wandered off into the woods. Really pretty park. I've got some digipics I'll post. This would make a great all dayer, with multiple trails, and great facilities. Oh, it is $2 per rider, but it's worth it, really clean with supervised facilities (playground, bathrooms etc.). If you'd like to chat about this trail or others I have a message board for local biking on my website, jivedaddy.com. Cheers!
