Mountain Biking Flatirons Vista
#339 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
A quick, easy, smooth trail. Good for testing out new tires or pedals, but not great for pounding out a lot of miles. You can use this to connect to Dowdy Draw, Community Ditch, Greenbelt, and all of the other trails around this area, though, for a longer ride. I prefer riding this one counterclockwise, but either way is nice. There are a lot of really nice views of the Flatirons throughout the trail, so it's a pleasant ride.

From Boulder, head south on 93. After you pass Highway 128, turn right into the trailhead parking lot (if your vehicle isn't registered in Boulder county, you're supposed to pay a fee; ignore at your own risk!). You can also take 93 north out of Golden to get here.
What's under your knobbies is pretty boring, but the scenery is excellent and this trail makes a nice approach to Doudy Draw and Spring Brook beyond.
Thank |Nice singletrack near Boulder, CO.....fast, bumpy with some rocks and twisty terrain, up and down, no strenuous hills to climb...fun!
Thank |Smooth ride with nice views. Nothing challenging.
Thank |This is a good trail for beginners to get used to the sensation of riding on rocks or add a few extra miles onto the Marshall Mesa loop. The scenery is nice enough and as the name suggests the views of the Flatirons are excellent. The smoother portions of singletrack are nice but most of the trail is covered in smallish rock that makes the ride rough without presenting any real challenge. I last rode this on a hardtail with a bruised tailbone - it's a one-star trail in that situation but a three any other time.
Thank |These loops make a GREAT night ride. I rode this trail after midnight Sunday morning and it was just what the Dr ordered. The trail was a 4 ft wide gravel path without any obstacles and only gentle grades - but I was looking for an easy antidote for insomnia. The serene solitude of riding through a prarie meadow near the flatirons ridge was exquisite. The only other creatures that were stirring were night hawks swooping silently overhead as they consumed unsuspecting insects. Furthermore, I almost didn't need my lights as the welcoming glow from the city of Boulder softly illuminated the majestic formation, and the trail. Do it.
Thank |Very easy, good way to extend the Marshall Mesa ride. Marshall Mesa to this trail to Dowdy Draw/Spring Brook (Creek?) trails and back. Nothing challenging, very beginner, but still somewhat fun.
Thank |If you're just going to ride this loop, and unless you're an absolute beginner, this might not be a very interesting ride. I also thought that for a beginner trail, it was pretty rocky (not at all a "buff" trail). But, if you're going to ride several of the system trails, you're in for a much more worthwhile day!
Thank |As a true beginner I have to say this was a great confidence boosting trail. Nothing too challenging but a good place to get used to rocky trails and some slight downhill. Honestly thought the views here are amazing and I would ride this trail fairly often just for that.
Thank |Fun ride! I parked at Greenbelt and headed across 93 to Flatirons Vista trail head. Very nice smooth ride. I took the south trail to Doudy Draw. Fun down hill and then back up to Spring Loop, left at fork. Looped around and back down towards Doudy Draw. Came up back side of Greenbelt to parkng. Got about 10.4 miles out of it.

Thank |Good, fun, close ride. We ride the loop two or three times. We took a beginner rider on this trail with no problems. The trail does have some rocky sections, but nothing too technical. Enjoy after work.
Thank |Real easy ride; not a whole lot to it, but the location and the views are nice! Good for adding some distance at the end of Dowdy Draw.
