There's a small network of gravel doubletrack trail encircling Franz Lake and running through the nearby wetlands. These trails are perfect for a chill evening cruise, or someone who's never ridden offroad before. Keep an eye out for dog walkers!

Nice warm up for a ride. We rode in from town and explored other areas off the trail, for a total of 9 miles.

This is a nice trail to just cruise around when you're exploring Salida. As has been mentioned, the scenery around the area more than makes up for what the trail iacks in difficulty.

While the trails here are entirely unremarkable, the views of this small lake, with the massive 14ers in the background, are pretty sweet! This would also be a great place to take a total novice to mountain biking.
