Mountain Biking Freund Creek

This trail has a steady climb winding through the canyon and offers wonderful views. Once you get to the meadow the trail forks, Take the right fork. Take a short break at the top, then follow the main trail down. Be sure to have your breaks checked prior to this ride. The downhill portion is smooth, fast and dotted with multiple washout jumps to catch plenty of air. There are even several large burms to carve on the way down. Have fun!!!!

Getting there
From downtown Leavenworth, take Chemstick Highway North until just before the railway bridge. Take a left towards Freund Canyon (there is a sign) and follow this road until the pavement ends. You can park there and take the dirt road up about 1-1.5 miles. Don't take the lower trail on the left. This is the downhill portion which is very fast and would lead to a nasty collision. Continue up the road until you see the sign for the trailhead.

Great trail. Long climb up, great downhill with bobsled type berms. Next time I will probably ride up from Leavenworth through the ski area rather driving up to the parking lot at the trail head.

Very fun trail! Mostly a gradual, easy climb with some short steep sections. Around 4 miles of climbing and maybe the same descending, but you'll definitely average 15-20 mph on the way down.

Awesome berms, fast sweeping banked turns ( some 40 ft radius, 180 degrees!), some nice well made jumps. Nothing seems too scary- its all in how much speed you give it. Awesome a few hours after a light rain when the surface is just slightly damp hardpack, and still pretty darn good even when bone dry, especially considering how other local trail surfaces are ( loose over hardpack).

Highly recommend! One of my favorites in the Wenatchee area so far, a real rush!

This was a very fun trail. Be prepared for some climbing but the downhill part is awesome. The trail crew has done an excellent job of building a long downhill on the edge of the mountain with jumps and high banked curves. This makes all the uphill pedaling worth it. The trail is smooth with few roots and rocks.

I'm a total nube, and I had no problems on this excellent, fun trail. They have built a logging road, so most of the uphill trail is on the road. About 2/3 of the way up you can go off the road and find the old trail, but it's easier to just follow the road. At the end of the road you find the single track again. Just follow the trail to the top where you will see a trail sign. Keep going and the trail starts down again. Wonderful, fast down flows downhill with some jumps and turns. I'm a total nube and I had a blast. The views are fantastic. The last 1/4 is on a logging road and leads right back to the logging road where you started.

I grew up in the PNW, but only started MTB'g later in life while living in the rocky Northeast (now Toronto area). I was visiting my folks in Chelan and wanted to do some riding so I looked up this place, rented a bike in Leavenworth and ventured out. This type of riding is very different than what I am used to. This isn't what I would call technical at all, but its a beautiful and fitness challenging ride. Being in only moderate shape, I had to take a couple breaks on the 4 mile climb (I think ~4,000ft up). Some beautiful scenery, serene landscape and being in nature keeps you motivated. Then get set for a blast of a downhill run. I really wished I had had my AM bike, but the hardtail rental was sufficient.

Rode this trail yesterday and the weather in Leavenworth was perfect! Clear skies, sunny, and about 55 degrees. We parked by the first trailhead sign ojn the left just up the dirt road from the entrance to the tree farm. THIS IS WHERE THE TRAIL ENDS! We rode our bikes headed up the dirt road for approx 1 - 1.5 mi to the trailhead sign where the singletrack starts. Steady climb for about 3 miles with stunning views. Bring a camera! Once at the top, take a break, and get ready - the ride down is FAST! There are plenty of washouts for jumps, and several creek crossings in case your dog gets thirsty :) This is my second time on this trail, going back again in a month. The downhill for this is well worth the climb.

Very fast & fun dowhill run! Lots of jumps and banked corners.
The climb up is a steady 4 miles, 1.5 on a jeep rd and the rest on great, smooth singletrack. Very cool trail 2 miles from highway 2, the only thing missing was an espresso stand!
