Mountain Biking Fs 477

****   Add a review
#199 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
#4,886 in the world

Parts of this road are gated, so you can't drive all the way through to the other end, which is further up 276. There is camping all along this road, which is great as it can be used to access/loop a number of trails in this area of Pisgah.

Getting there
From Asheville, head south on I-26E. Take the exit for Hwy. 280, and follow that Southwest towards Brevard. Hang a right on Hwy. 276, and that will take you into the heart of Pisgah.

A mile or two along 276, hang a right onto gravel FS 477.

FS 477 is a nice gravel road climb to either A) access the singletrack along the forest service road or B) to gravel grind. If you choose to do the latter, I like to climb from Hwy 276 to Hwy 276, then, after a very short distance going downhill on Hwy 276, connect with FS 475B for a nice gravel loop.

Some nice climbing and descending on this road. Gates are open at different times of the year so there can be car traffic throughout - so careful on the fast downhills. The corners can be torn up too so check yourself before you go flying around blindly.
