Mountain Biking Gateway Beach
#200 of 301 mountain bike trails in New York
This is where you can ride when the ice and snow are prohibitive in the woods. If it is not very cold, and there is now snow on the ground, DON"T ride here. Extreme winter only. Be aware of the tides so you don't get stranded by the ocean. This is a great place to ride in the winter when the moisture in the sand freezes.

Buffalo st and Hylan Blvd
The only reason to ride here is when the local trails are iced over or the snow is too deep. Don't even think of riding this in the summer. When the temperature remains below 20f for a few days, the moisture on the sand hardens up and makes riding easy. Nice ocean views.
