Mountain Biking Mount Laguna Recreation Area
#240 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
An XC alternative ride to the burly Noble Canyon trail in the Mt. Laguna Recreation Area. While the NC trail requires a shuttle, the network of trails available allows one to put together a variety of loops if you know the area or willing to be a bit adventurous. There is a good map at the TH kiosk of the area trails. Available trails carry you through pine/oak forest, beautiful pine meadows and up to the oak chapparal before returning on the opposite side of the meadow on your trip back to the TH. Plenty of fast flowy trail with just a bit of rocks. The tough part of the climb when you turn off Noble Canyon is on a FS road.

Exit north onto Sunrise Highway (# 47) off I-8 east of San Diego. Just past mile marker 19 park at the Meadows Information Center TH.
Very enjoyable. I park at red roost trail parking lot. Lots of options, can be hard to figure out where to go so bring a map your first time and ask people.
Thank |I would not believe there was such fun trails through alpine forest this close San Diego if I hadn't ridden them. This loop takes you through the whole spectrum available in the area. Fast, flowy trails for the most part with a scattering of rocks along the way. There is an one mile lung busting climb on Pine Creek Road as you turn off the Noble Canyon trail portion of the ride (you can bypass it and shorten the ride by a couple of miles if you take the a right the first time you cross the road). Fantastic ride! Be sure and make the drive if you are in the San Diego area.
