Mountain Biking Gold Camp Trail
#147 of 283 mountain bike trails in New Mexico
This trail is the new route up to Frazer Mountain Road. I would highly recommend taking it as opposed to Bull-of-the-Woods Mountain Road because you can bypass two of the three "Mothers" with this trail. Making its way up the slope of the mountain, this track starts relatively steep and loose. However, after riding a switchback and continuing past the Hike-a-Bike Trail, it mellows out into some nice, sloping forest riding.
Once it has made its way through the forest, it opens up into a meadow and meets the Bull-of-the-Woods Mountain Road again. Frazer Mountain Road meets the Bull-of-the-Woods Mountain Road just on the other side of the meadow.

From the Bull-of-the-Woods trailhead, head into Taos Ski Valley on Twining Road. Then, take a left onto Phoenix Switchback Road until you reach the Northside gate. Finally, continue past the gate onto Bull-of-the-Woods Mountain Road until you reach the Gold Camp Trail on your right.
This is a great trail that makes it much easier to get to Frazer Mountain Road. My favorite part of the trail is the great riding to be found in the forest; for example, the best section consists of a series of wide, mellow switchbacks that take your mind off the climb or make the descent entertaining. Lower down the trail is straight, loose, and a little steep. Enjoy!
