Mountain Biking Good Water Rim

*****   Add a review
#44 of 710 mountain bike trails in Utah
#847 in the world

Amazing trail on top of San Rafael Swells' more dramatic scenery. Ripping singletrack that skirts along the rim of Good Water Canyon with numerous sections along the almost very edge of the rim. Not very many technical sections but the trail serpentines more than any trail I've ridden. Always twisting and turning. Out and back on the trail is 42 miles, one way and return on the dirt road is about 28 miles and an option to bailout at Camp 5.

Getting there
From Green River, west on I-70 25 miles to the Sinbad exit 129. The road cuts back east along interstate then north and across the San Rafael River past Buckhorn Wash and 9 miles past Buckhorn Wash and a left onto Oil Dome and 2 mile to Wedge Rd. Another 5 miles to the Little Grand Canyon Overlook. YOU ARE WAY OUT THERE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FULL TANK BEFORE LEAVING THE 70. Castle Dale is not far away.

Like the others that have reviewed this trail the views are what makes this an amazing ride! What it lacks in technical riding is made up for by the scenery. I have to say that this is a great ride for families with Kids and people who ride more mild trails. With that being said it is a great place to visit with the family and see some amazing stuff off of your bike. Buckhorn draw area has some amazing indian writings as well, along with some old mining sites, and a dinosaur track which makes for a great ride down the county road for anyone pulling a trailabike or trailer with kids. MECCA MTB Club is also working on building a new loop close to campsite 3 area. Work has just begun so as far as what it will offer I will comment on later. After you ride the trail head into to Castle Dale and grab some Pizza @ R Pizza or some awesome Mexican food @ Palengue Gourmet Mexican Grill!

Beautiful views - can be done as an out and back or a loop. There is dispersed camping in the area.

Beautiful trail. Stunning. One of the best scenery rides on the planet. 16 miles of tight and twisty always skirting the edge of the canyons many contours. However, it's endlessly repetitious and didn't hold my interest for the duration. 5 stars for the scenery and 3 stars for the singletrack.

Awesome singletrack along the rim of Good Water Canyon. Close to the edge in places with amazing views. Long trail with options. Very active trail that never gets boring. Must ride.
