#21 of 289 mountain bike trails in Florida
#794 in the world

A progressive Freeride Park built of lines with multiple options surrounded by a 2 mile perimeter trail. At the center of the Freeride Park there is a Dirt Jump section separate from the main loop.

This is NOT a cross-country trail but does offer bi-passes for all features and DOES offer Freeride features for all levels of riders.

Definitely need plenty of skills to ride around here. Jumping skills very helpful to fully enjoy, but not necessary since it's easy to get around the more demanding jumps and gaps. Funky Groovy XC trail by the parking lot was about 3/4 mile of funkadelic and groovisious singletrack

This place takes allot of the fun stuff from Alifia, Boyett, Carter, and Santos and condenses it into one Amazing tiny little package. Drops of varying Heights, Jumps, Lots of Jumps, Huge wood rollers, A Giant Wood roll into Huge wood berm plus wall ride!! This place is designed to session from one end to the other!! Absolutely amazing!! Just wish the rain would not have ended ot early for me. I could have been here all day!!!

Let me start of by saying, this place is seriously a gem. The amount of dedication from the volunteers and riders that help maintain, expand and change this place is outrageous. My first trip I met several of the guys that have helped keep this place afloat and remain an important part of the MTB, BMX and overall biking scene in Florida. They are a welcoming and passionate group.. just read the history behind this place to understand. I drove 2 hours from Pompano to ride and would make the drive every weekend if I could. The trail system is short, sweet and to the point. The majority of the trails here are designed for more advanced riders. A beginner could certainly go, but will want to avoid the advanced trails, seriously. There are PLENTY of sick lines to choose from. Speed and air time are the name of the game at this place. Lots of climbs, decents, drops, fast flowing banked corners and a plethora of jumps. There's a NASTY dirt jump BMX section as well. A brand new feature is a MASSIVE wood bridge that drops you into a huge ditch/gulley and up the other side. If you hammer this drop, you will pretty much float some air off the exit without any effort. It's sick! I was truly impressed with this place and probably rode for 3hrs straight. I didn't hit all the drops on my first trip, some of them I felt were beyond my level for a first visit. Mainly the awesome drop into a banked turn, which then shoots you to a jump on top of a giant wooden table top and off the other side. Be courteous to other riders and remember who has the right of way. The trails are all one-way. Trail markings and skill levels are all clearly marked. As mentioned in other reviews, don't stop in the middle of a trail. Riders come through with a lot of speed and there's little room for error on lots of the features.

Originally reviewed in 2015....now 2018 and this trail only gets better! More features added for advanced riders. One of the best in Florida and you'll meet great folks here. Everyone is very chill. Young to old (but all experienced).

Please note: I ride this about once a month on weekends and still see people come out on street bikes. I caution them strongly to be careful. This trail is not for beginners, period. Even the easy path has some big drops, and most sections are fast...do not stop in trail! The ONLY times I've risked injury is from encountering people stopped in the trail, particularly at the top of a hill, or worse...at the bottom. Trail is very narrow with no room to get around so please be aware of those around you and pull off at the various crossroads and give room to others. Otherwise, have a blast!

These trails are a blast for a advanced rider. If you want to bypass there are a bunch of different line options

Though there are expert jumps and drops, there is always an easier option to circumvent the more difficult obstacles. Just make sure that you are on the lookout for the trail signs. Everything is well marked and you'll see yellow, blue, and red arrows pointing you in the right direction.

This is very much a sessioning trail. I don't know where the original description of 4-miles originated. A whole loop is just a hair over a mile and a half. However, with lots of drops, jumps (doubles and tabletops), berms, and quick climbs, this trail will get you winded.

If you want to get some miles in, you can always ride out to Turkey Lake just two miles down the road.

I want to extend my appreciation to all of the volunteers that keep the trail in perfect condition.

Not Bad. I expected more as far as a longer trail for cross country training. The course was small and more bmx style from jumps to small cuts and corners. Well maintained but a short trail course. Cross Country training is not a place to go. Sorry

Great trails. A lot of stuff packed into 2 miles of trails. I go here about 5 times a week and it never gets boring!

Fell off the Zebra and almost got pretty injured!
Awesome trail! Do your research and take a slow lap avoiding all the marked sections to check them out first.

With only 2 miles of incredible trails with insane drops and gaps, this is not for beginning riders like myself.

Great trails with lots of jumps and nice drops. Would have given a 5 but the entire trail system was very short. Definitely lot of fun if your in the area. Guess the ideal situation would be to come into the area and ride a few of the Malabar trail systems on the same day.

I found this Trail enjoyable. Being a relocated Californian, I enjoyed the Technical riding very much, but, I sure miss the Mountains. A definite must for all technical junkies.

This trail is awesome. Been riding this trail about three years and is in its prime right now. Very smooth and flowing, drops have been groomed (and are taller and more aggressive). Looks like the compromise with civic bodies have been implemented which means old lower trails are now gone and flattened, but the main loop is even more awesome now. Best it's been. I don't know any place in Florida that has more huge dips and flow than this. I drive 1 1/2 hrs to get here and worth the trip. BTW, DO NOT park at church, you'll waste your time on a poor inroad trail to the main loop, take Omega Rd to first stop sign and park on right side, bike up canal on right about 200yds to main Trailhead. That's where all the locals park. I hear they are going to make a parking lot right there so truly is the best spot. This is intermediate to advanced. NOT for beginners or kids, even the signs say so several times. The numerous skull and crossbones symbols say enough. Only a few of the strong features have bailouts. If you can't ride proficiently, don't break your neck and ruin this trail for everyone else.

BTW, main photo above for this trail is not Grapefruit, looks like Malabar Scrub which is near here about 1/2 mile east but not connected (but is also a great trail, and is good for kids and beginners)

Trail with a lot of techniques, nice to ride and make some jumps, but if you are looking for a trail were you can ride with some ascending and descending loops, this is not the one. The entry to this trail, is just right next to the canal, just park on the church and ride south, as soon as you pass the canal you will see the entry

First thing: The directions and map are completely off.
Take 95 to Palm Bay - Malabar Road exit - and head east. Hang a left at first main intersection - Babcock Road. Go North about a mile, trail begins on left right before big canal. Park at the Church about 200-yards North of the canal.

Bring your A-Game when you hit this trail. It's not long, but it's littered with drops, gap jumps and doubles throughout.
By far the most "free-ride" type trail in Florida. Has more jumps than all the big boys - Santos, Alafia etc - combined.
Stay to the left for the easiest route, hang right if you have the guts.
Definitely not a trail for a beginner.

I absolutely love this trail but unfortunately it is in danger of being destroyed! If you are reading this please consider signing the petition to save it (the petition is by the Brevard Mountain Bike Association who currently maintain the trail). Thanks in advance for your support!

Rider questions

Q: I am a intermediate female rider, I can ride the vortex at Santos, blues at Chuck with the occasional red. I am not a pro is this trail suitable for me?
A: You will be fine...There are ridearounds for all the tough features. Just take it slow the first time and inspect any features you are not sure about before you ride them.

Q: Does this trail still exist after all the plans to destroy it?
A: Yes, it is open and better than ever. It is being maintained by BMBA. Get out there and enjoy!!
