#32 of 121 mountain bike trails in Maine
Trail has a bit of everything.. starts on a rocky wide climb to a fun single track.. a number of log crossings (most are ridable), up to a radar tower, the trail continues to the left side of the fence surounding the radar tower.. the downhill from the radar tower is a washed out technical downhill.. It isn't all that steep, but there are tons of things to get your wheel caught in... then more fun single track to a long, long climb (starts off with some pitch and then is more consistant and gradual... but long).. finishes with more single track and then a fun short downhill down the rock face you started on. Very fun... will actually get a bit better with more use. There is a trail off to the Right on the way up the climb which I am told is a good warm up trail.

Take Route 9 to the Center of Cumberland. You will pass Greely High School on your right. Approx 1 mile past the school on your left is Greely Road. Follow Greely Road to the end. Straight ahead at the end is the entrence the trail (up a rock washout)...trail loops off the left at the top of the washout)
FYI all. This Town owned Preserve is known as Knights Pond Preserve. The newly acquired Town owned Greely Woods Preserve is just down the road from Knights Pond Preserve off of Greely Road Extension. There is a new Preserve sign that denotes the trail head. There is also a small pullout for 2-3 cars at the trailhead. Check out the real Greely Woods Preserve when you're in the area.
Thank |Some new trails added since last review: Blue blazed trail which loops off the North Side of ridge & back up, makes for a fun down & up. The single track (Red Blazes & White Blazes) traversing the ridge are super fun, flowy with some tech features. The trail off the back side of the radio tower is no longer maintained & not really ridden much at all. Town of Cumberland is in the process of connecting the trail network to Falmouth's Hadlock trails with the "Cross Cumberland Trail"....The trail can be picked up & ridden from the western edge of ridge trails down a snowmobile trail to Blanchard Road, Rines Forest & eventually to the Eastern side of Hadlock.
Thank |Fun trail, thanks for a great description, I probably wouldn't have known where to go at the radio tower if I hadn't read it. The downhill beyond the radio tower was really washed out, tons of rocks and ruts in the trail to get your wheel stuck in and all grown in with branches and roots, I had some trouble getting down it, there were a few fun steep parts though! At the bottom of that hill there is a little side trail that connects to Pleasant Valley Rd, but there is someone's closed gate blocking where it comes out to the road. Overall it was a fun ride, those snowmobile trails look like they might be good riding, too. I think I might try ridin 'em.
