Mountain Biking Green River
#154 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
I rode this clockwise, starting by pushing up the steps by the road. Stayed left and followed the trail along the river. Eventually looped all the way around. If you ride all the trails out here there's around 13 miles or so.

From I-26 take Exit 59 and go North on Holbert Cove Road. After maybe a 1/10 mile, take your first left onto Green River Cove Road. Follow the road all the way down the switchbacks until you bottom out next to the river. After about two miles there is parking on the right side of the road near Wilderness Cove tubing. The trail starts on the opposite side of the road.
This is old school mountain biking - basically a hiking trail. Lots of hike a bike. Very little flow - steep ups and steep downs. It's pretty and it was a great workout but I won't come again.
Thank |Beautiful ride along the Green River! It is rugged terrain and reminds me of Pisgah. There is some hike-a-bike, but mostly just gorgeous woods and wild river. The rhododendron was blooming when we went in July! Normally, you'll see them bloom in the spring so it is a testament to how much cooler and different the climate is down in the gorge. Cell phones don't work down in the gorge, so don't rely on them for navigation.
Thank |Awesome trails! Good technical climbing and descending. Be sure to make time to check out the falls along Green River. It's a steep hike down (and then back up), but it's totally worth it. I was told there are around 13 miles of trail total, although we only did about 8-9 miles of it when I rode there. Looking forward to going back soon.
