The Green Belt Trail system is composed of three short trails: the Wally Wickander Memorial Trail (1.48 miles), the Ward Cr. Rd. Trail (1.81 miles) and the East Avenue Trail (1.72 Miles). You can access the trail system from a number of places, but one of the best routes to get the full experience would be to begin in Memorial Park near the Hayward Plunge (one of the locals’ names for this route) swimming pool. Ride up the Wally Wickander trail, up Ward Creek, and come down East Avenue. Alternatively, you can ride up the road to avoid the steep climbs on the trail.
The trail is mostly doubletrack, with some singletrack sections thrown in. It is very steep in places, especially up towards the top: be prepared to do some hike-a-bike. The trail follows several different creeks and is hidden down below the tree canopy in the cool shade! This is an urban trail, and it definitely feels like it.
Keep your eyes open for some jumps and berms on the way back down East Avenue Trail!
This trail is not bad. Its in the middle of the city so kinda crazy its so hidden. There are jumps you can ride if you find them.
Thank |Got dropped off at the top.. so that saved a very boring and long climb! Pretty fun, downhill all the way! I recommend going with somebody as the area is not the best! Some jumps and burms. Lookout for a "dirt half-pipe" it has a few jumps in it if you look around!
Thank |Okay trail for being in the middle of the city. Definitely not advanced. Would ride only if shuttling and as a last resort.
Thank |Fun trail to ride. Easy to get up, and easy to find jumps. Worth going to.
