Mountain Biking Grindstone
#106 of 169 mountain bike trails in Missouri
An informal network of trails allow users to wander over most of the 230 acre natural area. Cliffs and wooded hills surround a flat field with an elevated wooded "island" in the middle. Three or four miles of enjoyable singletrack winds through the woods surrounding the crushed gravel trail encircling the field. And a great little stretch crosses the wooded island. Native prairie grasses, limestone cliffs, creek views, and wildlife provide a diverse experience. Grindstone and Hinkson Creeks, plus the Gordon Tract, which is a National Register Archaeologic Site, are features of this natural area.

This area has a variety of different difficulty levels throughout. The last reviewer pretty much nailed it. I often encounter hikers & trail runners, usually visibilty and speed isn't an issue. Parts of this system are great for folks new to MTB riding. Others aren't.
Thank |Grindstone is a neat area but the trail system is a bit lacking. Hinkson Creek Trail, part of the Columbia greenway system runs through the area making it accessible by bike from all parts of the city. The singletrack exists on the edges of the park in the hills along the creeks. It is steep and rocky with some cliff and ledge exposure. There are a lot of park visitors that use the gravel trails in the flat areas but not many on the hillside singletrack.
