Getting there
Back of Markham Park trail system. Take a right after entering and follow the double track all the way to the back. Follow the sound of gun shots -- there is a shooting range nearby -- hence the name.

Considering this trail a double diamond, of any color, is a joke. I'm an intermediate rider who got through with little difficulty, walking a couple of short sections I wasn't anticipating, on my short travel bike. If this is a double (whatever color) diamond then what is the Portal in Moab considered? Fun, short, full featured trail rated way too high in difficulty because it's in a place where the Earth is flat. Ride w caution & sense, you'll be fine.

Honestly I didn't think this was that challenging the first time I hit it I only thing I reccomend is to get towed through the trail and have them Call out the climbs and drops

This is a fun loop, which I do every time I go to Markham Park. It's hard to believe you can pack so much variety into such a small stretch, and that's exactly what the builders have done. In terms of difficulty you should definitely have some bike sills before attempting this one. There's NO space to stand off to the side or walk your bike, so you'll get run down if you can't hang. Do a few loops through here and you'll be exhausted.

Coming from the Midwest ( mostly technical tight single track) I felt right at home on this gem. Riding under the canopy was magical. I was very impressed and surprised to find trails like these in South Fla. this is a MUST RIDE area!

I ride at Markham 2 to 3 x's a week. Gun Range prepared me for my 1st visit to Alafia. I was able to do most of Alafia (Gatorback / Moonscape) because of the practice at Gun Range.
Gun Range has roots, drop offs, tight spots, ledges, rather tough climbs and is a true Black Diamond. Amelia and Quiet Waters are not up to par with Gun Range or Markham in general (However, good enough parks to visit if you live in South Florida). Gun Range is more difficult than Roller Coaster at Alafia...that's for sure.
