Mountain Biking Hardy Rd. Trail
#22 of 308 mountain bike trails in Ontario
Good twisty singletrack with not much climbing, fast and flowing with a few sections of rocks and roots. Can be done as an out and back ride or a lolly-pop loop. Take some time and explore the few alternate routes in the area. The trail ends when you get to Powerline Rd. after riding under the 403 highway, turn around and head back to the start. The entire ride can take between 16-19km depending on the route (out and back or lolly-pop loop).

From the 403 take the Paris Rd. exit and go south until Hardy Rd., go west onto Hardy Rd. Look out for a parking area for the trail area on the right side of the road (there is a sign that says trail parking). Ride from the parking area down Hardy Rd traveling west and keep a look out for a trail going off the road on the left side (south). The trail goes immediately up a hill, this is the start of Hardy Rd. Trail.
Trails in great shape for recent wet weather with snow , minimal amount of mud in sections .
Thank |Rail sections are partially ice covered with soft gravel sections. All single track is wet muddy and ice covered in sections
Thank |Rode yesterday, trails have been cleared, great ride.
Thank |Dry hot day with trails in great shape, checked out many of the side trails and then continued through farm area hiking trails towards Paris . Workers have cut back most of the stinging plants but my legs still found a few . Great river side trail.
Thank |Trail wasn't too hard to find, thanks to everyone's reviews. Perfect fatbiking day! Great snow. The further in you go the more technical it can get.
Thank |Always looking to search out places i haven't been before, this is a great location. Once you leave the gravel wheelchair access path you enter into some well groomed single track and north of the 403 some excellent rougher terrain . Met a local rider and we even swapped out so i could do a 27 test ride . Should also be real good once it snows. strava
Thank |Finally found the single track portion of Hardy Rd thanks to dread33's directions.
Thank |Enjoyed the out and back to the 403 on my 2016 Rocky Mountain Blizzard -50 fat bike. Will most definitely return to shred this place, but will venture farther North past the 403. Thanks for the stellar directions dread33.
You missed it then. Small opening beside the rail-trail enterance. which is most likely what you were on. If your from the area, let me know when you go next, I'll show you.
Thank |Great network of challenging single track trails that run along the river. Can be challenging to find if you're not sure where to look, or easily mistaken as the rail trail that many of the single tracks run parallel to. Once you're on the proper single track trails there is no mistaking that you've found the right ones. Narrow, some steeper short climbs, log obstacles, roots, rocks. Always a good time.
Thank |This is a great trail especially after passing under the 403. Some great technical climbs and descents with some tricky rock and root sections. Also some lovely swooping smooth fast sections. I had a blast. I had trouble finding the start of the trail and completely missed it. From the parking area on Hardy road head West and look out for a track with a private property no trespassing sign. The trail is just past this on the left look out for the white markers on the trees. If you get to a gravel pit on the left you've gone too far.
Thank |First time riding this as a single track beginner and my god this is a challenge starts off pretty relaxing then you need some major cardio to tackle the uphill areas must be about 10 of them
Had to get off the bike about 5 times
I wouldn't recommend this to someone just starting out On Single track trails.
But I will Definitely do it again.
Thank |This Trail has a great section of fast single track. Closer to the 403 it gets quite technical. The sandy soil makes it hard to control your decent. In short great ride, highly recommended!
Thank |I rode this trail today and being a MTB beginner I thought the technical stuff was pretty tough. The initial singletracks were flowing and were pretty good. The technical stuff was above me but it sure was fun trying it (I fell hard once but it was a rush). I'd recommend it for intermediate riders but I'm sure advanced guys would find it a bore! BTW, I entered it from the Rail Trail access point on Hardy Road.
Thank |Beginning off Hardy Road, with the exception of the first two hard hills early in the ride, the trail is primarily curvy flat single track in the flood plains of the grand river - anyone can ride it. The last few kms are where the fun begins! Tough climbs, technical descents and a variety of trail surfaces - loose sand/dirt, rocks and roots. The singletrack on this part of the trail is on the edge of a steep hillside, tight and techincal. You're at the end when you reach the multi-use SC Johnson Trail, but the fun is only half over... you get to ride back the same way you came! A pretty solid two hour ride out and back.* Review edited 4/26/2009
Thank |Super trial along the Grand River in Brantford. I start at the parking area on Hardy Road and ride the trail out to Powerline Road and back. Good for a 1.5-2 hour ride depending on route (there are a few options when you get close to riding under Highway 403). Mostly nice fast twisty singletrack with some rocky technical challenges here and there. Not much climbing but there are a few that will get you breathing heavy. The out and back ride is 16-18km (again, depending on route taken).
Thank |This is a great ride! I love doing this trail. I like to start at the old wescast factory on powerline road. Head north on the single track for about 500 metres then merge into the trail heading south. You know you found it when your at the first technical downhill. If you start from here it is very flowing once you get the hang of it, lots of different terrain, downhills, climbs, rock sections, little north shore stuff and root sections. Takes a good rider about an hour to get to hardy road non stop riding.
Enjoy and please respect all trails.* Review edited 7/30/2008
