A narrow, winding dirt path through a lush green forest filled with tall trees and scattered leaves on the ground. Sunlight filters through the leaves, illuminating the trail and creating dappled light effects. A fallen log is visible along the path, indicating a natural, untamed environment. Mountain Biking Hartman Creek State Park

****   Add a review
#26 of 388 mountain bike trails in Wisconsin
#1,244 in the world

Single track is in southwest corner of park. Getting to the single track requires a short ride on multiuse trails or roads. Riders looking for a longer route or a scenic ride in he park can start from various areas and distances from the single track. There are (3) single track loops, easy, intermediate, and hard. Intermediate and hard are both offshoots from the easy trail. As of July 2010 the hard was under construction. The trails ride pretty fast and intermediate has some additional technical sections. When adding multiuse to your single track ride it creates some variety and difficulty, especially with the high point in the Windfeldt trail system.

Our family of four (parents and two kids) did the green trail and loved it. One thing I really liked was how well marked the trails are. Fun turns, a little gradient, a few roots and rocks but not much. It probably wasn't challenging enough for my 9 and 11 year olds and husband, but I thought it was a fun, fast ride.

Flowy and fast. Technical features are few and far between, and all either have ride-arounds or can be easily rolled over. Very fun, easy trail to ride! Those looking for technical challenges will not be satisfied here, any skill level can handle even the "Difficult" section by choosing the ride-arounds. Well-maintained. Great trail to break back into the riding season with, or for novice riders, or simply for those who want to relax with some flow trails!
Cost as of this writing is $8.00 per vehicle to park, and $5.00 per person to ride the trail.

Cycling @ 60 requires some consideration as to what trails to ride. The previous reviews promteded me to drive the hour plus to check out Hartman. I could not have made a better choice for the day. Plenty of smooth yet snakey, along with plenty of downhills with a little grade. I did all three levels, green, blue, and black. The black is rated as the most technical only due to the man made obstacles. The roller Coaster I tried but then bypassed it. It does take you about 4 feet off the ground and unless you know the technique you could take pretty tall spill. The Teter Totor I just bypassed and did not try. Other than that a couple log obstacles, very small rock garden, not much more. The ST just north of Green Bay has loads more stumps, rut, potholes, and digs. I would highly recommend this trail for someone who wants just plain fun with a great cardio workout. Plenty of elevation to get it.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of this trail system. No gut busters or brake burners but the layout will keep you moving at a pretty decent pace. Something about the woods and the terrain make you feel like you're in a more remote setting than you really are.

This was a great ride. The green trail was nice and fast. The black trail had tons of man made obstacles to test your skills.

Fun, easy, flowing trails. There isn't really anything technical here other than navigating turns at the higher speeds you can achieve due to the smooth trail. The trails are marked easy, intermediate, and expert, though the basic trail is the same on all 3. The more difficult ones just have obsticles you can choose to ride including a teetor-tator that is only for ONE rider at a time - we had a near accident here, missing the signage. Riding the entire trail makes for a decent ride and 2 loops is a nice long ride. It's enjoyable for all levels.

Great trail system. Beginner, intermediate and advanced trails. Some fun "jungle gyms" for bikes on the advanced portion of the trail.

Great trail. The dragon trail is extremely fun and the teeter totter (not sure if that's what's called) was a great addition. Good amount of elevation and speed variety. Never felt bored but never felt out of control. Very fun trail. It was my first single track ride and I have been back plenty of times. I would recommend it highly.

I guess we like a generally smoother ride. Don't need rocks, just need good solid dirt and a few roots here and there. And this trail provides that. Difficulty level on all of these is about equal. What makes the Difficult section difficult is that there are obstacles you can choose to do. Or you can go around them. Definitely well worth the trip to the middle of this beautiful state.

A really nice trail system. Lots of fun. I rate as intermediate throughout. Not a lot of technical difference between the trail marked easy and the most difficult trail. The easy trail has some tight and technical sections. The difficult trails have slightly harder climbing sections. Also a few technical features for good measure. And some really awesome features like a double teeter totter and the dragons back! Very awesome. Though there are ride-arounds for all but a couple of simple features.

Great single track system. Not especially technical as my 9year old daughter completed all the trails with a 24" wheeled Gary Fisher pre caliber with only a few dismounts. The dragons tail was great. We had to go over it a few times each.

Very nice trail system. I think there is close to 13miles of trails total with three different levels of difficulty. Trails starts at the easy section which is very rolling a flowy. Some smaller hill climbs with low grades. Smooth trails with little roots lets you carry a lot of speed but there is plenty of tight twisty turns to maneuver. As you progress to the intermediate and difficult sections the trial has longer hill climbs faster down hills some very nice bench cuts plenty of small log jumps a huge huge dragons tail. The trails are well groomed by the state park personal and the there is some signage. Pack your swim suits to hit up the beach when your done with the ride. Also nice shower facilities in the park to rise off.

Trail is nicely cleared and maintained. The trials are mostly sand with some pretty good flow. There are few spots in which obstacles are put in the middle of a nice down hill and require you to slow to almost a stop. Other times you get to the bottom of the hill about to go up the next an carry your speed and there is a sandy corner. Seems they have a problem with ticks though, so wear some repellent.

Easy is currently VERY fast with the dry conditions as of 7/9/12. Watch out for some sandy corners when trying to carry the speed. More difficult and Very difficult trails have more climbs and obstacles (natural and man made). Some sandy sections and obstacles can keep the speeds down, but the last 25% of the Very difficult is super quick. New dragon tail was cool and not something you find elsewhere in the area. Very well marked trails. * Review edited 7/9/2012
