Mountain Biking Heart Lake - Acfl
#48 of 1,216 mountain bike trails in Washington
Great singletrack trails through old forest on rolling terrain around a lake make for some very fun ridding in a beautiful setting. This area is bordered on the North and West by private property, some trails cross over these lines so please ride with respect. Of the three ACFL areas this one contains mostly intermediate riding trails. There are maps located at a few of the main trailheads but picking up a map at the LBS is recommended. All trails are well signed at intersections, numbered and although may not be in order do make sense after you have ridden here a bit. FS Road 25 & trail 212 (clockwise) make a very fun loop. There are a few trails that are designated ‘hiker only’, predominantly around the immediate lake shores and some steep ridges.

The ACFL areas are planned community-wise so there are many access points from small neighborhoods, most of these however do not have much in the way of public parking. The following are trailheads with public parking;
1. From Commercial ave (the main st) in Anacortes turn West on 32 st and follow it to H ave, turn left (south) onto H and follow it about a mile where it turns into Heart Lake rd, about .5 mile farther is a right turn into large parking lot for Heart Lake, several trails start here. Also, one access for the Whistle Lake area is directly across main rd.
2. Continuing on Heart Lake rd .5 mile there is parking on the left at the intersection of Mt Erie rd, another access pt for Whistle Lake area, Heart Lake trails are across main road through a gate.
My wife and I loved it :) The trail was in great shape someone took some time and ct back the brush. Thank You for doing that :)
Thank |I am not sure where u guys entered but if u enter across from Heart lake and take the trail straight up it is a partial hike and bike. Once you climb that heart thumper, turn left and up to a small clearing Tough climb great down hill. Back on the trail turning left follow all the way to the parking lot on the opposite end. Re-enter on the rt, hand side and several tough climbs and some great whoopsie whoodles. I bike everywhere this is tough if you find the right trails. Best thing- Few people. So keep it low and enjoy it!
Thank |Just hit this trail on June 5 and it kicked butt. It's a single track trail with alot of turns and roots. The trails are fun for beginners and there are trails for the more experienced riders. Trail was in good condition and alot of fun. RIDE THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!
Thank |Very fun trail for new riders! I would recomend getting a map to really see where your going. Most of our ride was good there were alot of roots in the trail (trails were listed that way though) and the only hard part for us was the switch back on trail 250. Other then that we had a great time and will ride it again for sure!
Thank |This is a kickback trial but it's still fun.
