Mountain Biking Highline Lake State Park

#346 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado

Oasis in the desert and home of the 18 hour Trail. This was a fun fast trail with some nice banked turns. Should be ridden counterclockwise. Be sure and ride to the top of Mack Mesa and get a view of the lake and surrounding area. A good place to watch the sunset. There are several other recreational trails. I also found some singletrack north in the desert. Parks Pass required or day use fee.

Did the 18 Hour Trail. Could use some better signage.

Very easy, not a fast trail.

High line is the home of the 18 hours of Fruita. it is a beginner trail that can be ridden very fast.
The ranger office has the trail map for free.

This is a great trail for everyone. It's impossible to get lost if you follow the 18 hour race signs. Cool ups and downs and view of the lake.

The single track here was nice and it served as our morning warm up before heading out to Road 18..

This is a sweet race course! Above average buttery smooth singletrack that twists and winds around the lake. The new section reminds me of Kessel Run. The switchbacks are a series of some perfectly bermed turns you can actually feel the g-forces at work if you go fast enough, and they can be hit at full speed.

Pretty good place to take junior, especially if junior hasn't ridden much. In addition to Mack Mesa, head to the top of the mesa on the opposite side of Mack Lake for some cool switchbacks. Altogether, though, there's no reason to come here if you're in Fruita unless you're with absolute noobs.
