This is a beginner’s loop within the Phil’s World network of trails.
Phil’s World has been getting rave reviews as fun, non-technical and fast
singletrack for many years. The locals have added to the original loops, so
there is even more mileage to smile about.
This “Hippie House” route is particularly useful for learner mountain bikers.
It incorporates six miles of new trails on the flat, east side of the parking
area. There’s enough easy trail keep them (and their gnarly instructors)
entertained for a long time.
Enter this loop from the east side of the parking area. It is a one-way trail,
so you will soon see an arrow pointing you to the left. After a quarter mile
or so, you will come to an unmarked trail crossing. You can turn right here
and return quickly to the start if you are with a particularly tiny rider.
Otherwise, go straight through the trail crossing. (The trail coming in from
the left is part of another route option: “Phil’s Middle World Loop.”)
The only other junction is by the turn off for the “Hippie House” trail.
Skipping this trail will shorten your ride. Take the “Hippie House” turnoff
and you will have had six mellow miles by the time you’re back to the
parking area.
