A winding dirt path leads through a lush green forest, with tall trees on either side. A large, mature tree stands prominently on the right, its branches spreading wide under the sunlight filtering through the leaves. The scene conveys a sense of tranquility and connection to nature. Mountain Biking Hodge Park Trails

****   Add a review
#39 of 169 mountain bike trails in Missouri
#3,220 in the world

4 miles and 2 loops complete, in a figure 8, with a connector to existing double track completed. Going CCW the trail takes 3 passes parallel to the stream, moving up the hill each time. The 3rd one is quite rocky ("Rocky Top", (bench cut) but doable. After that it wanders through a cedar grove (aka "the Cedar Maze"), back to the start, or hang a R b4 exit and climb back up for a 1/2 mile, and loop back down on some nice singletrack. The good people at Earthriders.org/Urban Trail Co. have work days through the Fall/Winter/Spring.

Getting there
From the intersection of I-435 at NE 96th Street go east on 96th street to the entrances to the Hodge ball fields (bottom of the hill). Turn right (south) into the ball fields parking and go as far as you can (south). From the end of the parking lot you can see the foot bridge that crosses Shoal Creek and leads to single track location.

Going right at the trailhead will take you through some rocky sections at first then it smooths out into a fun singletrack ride after that. If you're not up to the rocks & roots, just explore the sections to the left at the trailhead.

Very fun trail to ride. It has sections of smooth single track and some rocky areas to mix it up. I will defiantly ride it again.

This is the closest singletrack to my house, but I only ride it when I'm taking my 8 and 10 year old boys. Great trail for a quick ride or something without too much tech in it.

There are a couple rocky sections and a sloping downhill that you can pick up some speed on, but nothing any real mountain bike can't handle.

Trail is continuing to grow thanks to volunteer efforts, so check back often.

Nice ride with good flow. Not a lot of technical areas but great for someone wanting to introduce themselves to mountain biking. Trails need to be marked better.

Trail is very new and only a beginning. They are doing it up well with some nice bridges and well lade stones. Whats there so far is pretty tame, but if you go CW there's a nice climb at the start and a few branches and a small log pile. Can't wait to see the rest. Earthriders.org and Hodges Park Trails on FB for work days etc. PS the runner who found my head light and chased me down, Thank You!
New sections make it much more interesting. One pass of the hillside is pretty gnarly, with tuns of small rocks, and rolling up and down, but nothing more then a couple inches to role, and pretty wide . Also some down hill parts where you can get a little speed and carve the turns.
