Mountain Biking CDT: Hope Pass
#523 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
This was the old Colorado Trail route now it's the CDT. This is a hard technical ride with a heinous hike-a-bike to the top of Hope Pass. Pedal about 8 miles up the road to the Sheep Gulch Trailhead . Turn right and begin the 2 ½ mile 2500 ft. hike-a-bike to the top of Hope Pass. Just keep telling yourself it's only 2 ½ miles! The first section off the pass is deff black! I took a nice tumble down the hill after loosing control in some scree. It's about a 6 mile downhill ride to the lake. Follow the CDT along the lake to the Colorado Trail turn right. From twin Lakes the Colorado Trail crosses 3-4 ridges, follows some old roads and has miles of fine singletrack . The trail is well marked with CT symbols . Just pay attention and you shouldn't have any route finding difficulties

From Buena Vista drive 17 miles north to CR 390 turn left (west) drive a short distance past Clear Creek Reservoir and park where the Colorado Trail crosses the road. Only a couple parking spots you might have to park at the lake
This ride is only for sick individuals that think they have to ride their bike every where they can! Sweet section of the CDT. Gets one black diamond.
