Mountain Biking Hornet's Nest Trail

**   Add a review
#323 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
#10,277 in the world

The trail is characterized its whole length by a width that is something between a doubletrack and a singletrack. I listed it as a 4X4 trail because that is the closest approximate width. It is smooth with occasional rocky sections, with some short fast descents and some short climbs. Switchbacks at the end of most hills with some wood bridges. Drop off on the left for most of the trail length could be intimidating for beginners. Top speed is probably 18-20 mph, and average speed is 10-12 mph[for me].

Getting there
Coming from Statesville on the road leading directly to Harmony. Drive past the Lowes and the Home Depot [directly across from each other] going away from town. The trail is on the left about 5-10 min down the road. Large gravel parking lot with brown fence surrounding it.

This is a fun out and back. Difficulty I'd consider beginner. However, medium level speeds can be hit, and the flow is o.k most of the length. Good workout if you hit it two or three times.
