Mountain Biking Horry County Bike Run Park
#4 of 115 mountain bike trails in South Carolina
The Horry County Bike and Run Park, aka The Hulk, started in the summer of 2012 has come a long way for a short single track mountain bike trail in Myrtle Beach. The single track mountain bike trail starts out with a 30' ft hill climb, then takes on characteristics of a wooden roller coaster for ¾'s of the trail. With a few tight twisty sections, several switchbacks, small hill climbs, ditch digs, dramatic drops, field laps and possible speeds up to 20 mph, this is the closest thing to real mountain biking that Myrtle Beach has to offer. It truly surprises everyone

I would rate it between intermediate and beginner. This is a very fun, fast trail. Short, steep climbs with several short steep drops. Lots of jumps, swoops, and speed due to its flowy nature. The best thing about the trail is every month or so it changes due to the amazing folks who work on the trail. It is at the beach, so there is tons of sand...prepare to lower your tire pressure. It is a great XC course for the area or any area for that matter. Well marked, well maintained...have fun!
Thank |What an awesome ride! Had plenty of nice drops, was super smooth and the mats were great. Was the first time going and will definitely be going back. One part was closed but still loved it.
Thank |A must ride if in the MB area! Great trail!
Thank |I had a great time riding this trail while on vacation. The trail was very easy to follow and enough hills to keep you guessing. Some nice features and very well maintained.
Thank |These trails are a gem right in Myrtle Beach! About 7.5 mikes of well-marked intermediate level trails. The Hulk has some flow and the trails are well/maintained. We could see crews working every time we ride rode there. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of trails!
Thank |This place has grown a lot in the last year. now there are more than just smooth xc trail with some drops and small jumps mixed in. They made some seriously sticky berms a nice drop off, table top jumps, and plenty of shoots, climbs, and a Pump track. The pump track could use some TLC but one thing at a time. This place can be riden by the newest riders to the most advanced XC riders. Trail riders will like it for its fun flowy aspects. This is my local trail and its definitely in the top 5 in the state in my books
Thank |Good mix of short but steep climbs & drops, straight paths and tight turns. Like most trails by the beach expect dry sandy spots can be tricky. Overall guys pace and one of my favorite trails in the area.
Thank |Good bike and run trail system located in Myrtle Beach. Well marked trails with bike and foot traffic routes in opposite directions. Terrain is mostly sand, which was new for me, but was good practice in going easy on the brakes, especially the front. 7 mile blue loop was a lot of fun with some short steep climbs followed by steep descents, berms everywhere, good flow, and even artificial turf in some areas to help prevent erosion of the trail where you definitely wouldn't want it. There's even a short wall ride for extra fun. Rode twice while on vacation and definitely justified packing and bringing my bike.
Thank |Trail is awesome! Pretty much dry from the rain we had yesterday. Lots of good features, small steep climbs to really fun descends. Come out and play peeps.
Thank |I was highly impressed with these trails. Good job to SORBA! I live near the mountains and have access to so many great trails. If I lived near this park I would ride it twice a week. It is quite a maze but once you learn your way around it's not bad. They have done a great job using the land they have. The short choppy hills will wear on you. Nice beginner features like table tops, some good jumps but hard to get up to speeed it's so flat. Watch out for poison ivy. All in all I was pleasantly surprised.
Thank |It's fun to ride, especially since it does have mostly shade and good flow, not something you can usually get at the beach. It's got jumps, berms and small hills. There is a good size pump track, almost bmx track size.
Thank |This trail was a breath of fresh air. My wife and I came to Myrtle Beach for a quick get away and I talked her into letting me take the bike. This trail opens at 5:00 am so I rode the entire thing and drove back to the hotel before she even woke up. Pretty fast trail. Tight switchback. The design team did a really good job with the area. It is well marked and flows pretty well. Most of the berms and steep sections on the trail are carpet covered to stop the sand from eroding. May want to bring mud guards to stop tye sand from flying in your face.
Thank |The trail has come a long way from its beginnings. Its very fast and flows very well. This is a perfect XC Race course and also does very well as a trail ride with numerous table tops, jumps, fast berms, and steep climbs. This should be in the top 5 in the state.
Thank |Best trail ride on the east coast of SC & NC. Well worth a second lap around.
Thank |I found it to be pretty easy. I'm a novice Mountainbiker with an older bike and had no problems with it. Their are some hairpin turns with a short steep climb that caught me off guard. Also, the sand can be tricky.
Thank |This trail was not what I expected. Very well planned, maintained & laid out. Have not been on a trail like this before as I am from eastern NC. Will be back next time I visit the area! Met some very nice local bikers there & rode with them. Very nice & friendly folks.
Thank |Great trail system. Nicely laid out. I was visiting from VA. and seen the reviews were good so checked it out and had a blast. The pump track is almost worth it on its own. Props to the design and maintenance crews. What those red aints when changing a flat....the're relentless.
Thank |I enjoyed my ride at this trail. Obviously it is a bit sandy because it is at the beach which made it loose in some spots. There were plenty of ups and downs even though Strava said 0 feet of elevation change. Trail seemed to have a lot of flow, even though it winds back-and-forth on itself there were not too many cutbacks that were sharp enough to cause you to lose speed. During the summer months it is very hot as there is very little canopy overhead, so best to go first thing in the morning.
Thank |A great trail you would not expect. If you have not ridden it in the past 6 months, alot has changed. More single track has been added and some of the bridges are no longer there. Water issues have been handled. I joke that it should if been called the Sandman due to constant changes, but it has been a good as change. Thanks for all the hard work that Cape Fear SORBA has been putting into it.

Well built trails with excellent signage. It looks like people worked very hard to make a nice trail in an area not well suited for MTB.
On a nation wide scale I would call this a 2/5. No tech. features really, lots of sand (were at the beach DUH), very little elevation BUT still fun. There is a lot of carpet down to help the erosion and there are LOTS of berms which is fun. Full thing took me 35 minutes on my first loop.
BUT on a local scale I would rate this a 5. Weather you are traviling here or live here getting out and riding trail is what its all about. Its better to get out here than to leave the bike in the garage. Though its not super techy or anything it is the best the area has to offer and is very worth riding.
The greenway system adds some nice miles as well and is a great way to see more of the city.
