Located just south of Bend, Horse Butte is a handy hub for trails that allow for the exploration of the north part of the old Fort Rock Ranger District.
Actually consists of the south end of Swamp Wells trail, Coyote Loop trail and Arnold Ice Cave trail which are all listed on this site. Additionally, with all the dirt roads in the area there is an endless combination of miles one can tie together (to Newbery Crater if desired). Swamp Wells is forested and there is some sweet flowing DH to be had. Coyote Loop & Arnold Ice Cave are more XC rides through a 20 year old burn area. All trails are best in cooler months.
