The Howard Creek trail follows Howard Creek upstream to the old Taylor Creek Road. The old Taylor Creek Road connects the Howard Creek trail to the Continental Divide Trail. The trail is located 20 miles northwest of the Island Park Ranger Station. Travel north on Highway 20 then turn left on the Kilgore-Yale road. Head west on the Kilgore-Yale road approximately 16 miles to FS Road #035 and follow the road for 2.5 miles to the trailhead.
