The Huntsbury Track is one of many linking the city with Summit Road on the Port Hills. It's not the best link...
The city comes quite a long way up the Port Hills here so you climb/descent a long way through surburban streets before you're on open pastures.
The track is a four wheel drive farm track without interesting technicality although it's not an unpleasant climb or descent that stays open in the wet.
If you want to ride up to the action on the Summit Road tracks the best way up from the city is the Rapaki Track which is not far away..
Five hundred metres from the top of this track there is a branch off to the left - it's the Bowenvale Downhill which is a challenging and interesting trail that goes all the way to the bottom of the hill before reaching the suburbs.
Another climb trail that does what it needs to do. A little steeper than rapaki, but gets you to the better trails faster.
Thank |The Huntsbury Track is a four wheel drive track that goes up the Port Hills between Christchurch's Huntsbury suburb and the Summit Road. It's an all-weather track and doesn't close during rain. It makes for a good workout on the way up and a fast ride down. It's a non-technical track used for access.
