The Ice Cave Trail really serves as a connector trail between the "Osprey Trail" and the "Blue Ridge Trail" Along the way (and hidden off to the side), there is a little trail that breaks off and leads to the main attraction, a little lava tube that is work exploring . . . especially if you bring a flash light. There is a nice cool draft coming out of the cave, so it is a good place to take a break on a summer day. Honestly, I have to give it a rating of two, because it is just terrible for mountain bikers due to the lave and malapais rock strown about everywhere, as well as the heavy horse traffic which damages the trail, especially during monsoon season. It's a much better hike than it is a mountain bike ride.

So consider myself a very good mountain biker, in very good shape and I've ridden around the world. This trail was horrible. Baby head boulders everywhere that normally may have been tolerable but add in the fact that some enterprising farmers are running commercial horse rides on it and have utterly destroyed it. Deep hoof prints everywhere and lots of places where they have created pot holes from the repeat steps. Any day on the mountain bike is a good day Buy I'm sad to say this was not enjoyable. Leave this trail for our 4 hoofed friends and find another trail. Maybe after it gets worn down it will be decent but I won't bother again.
