Mountain Biking James Peak
#355 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
The first 5 miles of the trail are just about flat and then the grade turns to
"RR" for just about the entire 8 mile ascent up the 4x4 road. Awesome views,
trail a little wet towards the top as the road is still surrounded by snow.
Moderate physical and easy technical.

From Idaho Springs take I-70 west to US 40 over Berthoud Pass to FS 128
take second right after mile marker 234 and park anywhere on the side of the
dirt road.
This is a jeep trail with 5 miles of flat trail to warm up on and then an easy steady 8 mile climb to the top. There is car traffic but it is low, maybe 1 car every half hour. The views are great and the ride down is a quick one.
