Mountain Biking Joe's Gulch To Nip 'n Tuck

  Add a review
#196 of 319 mountain bike trails in Idaho

I've only seen people running this in reverse, I've only run it as follows...begin with half a mile of light climbing to warm up followed by a sustained, steep effort for maybe a mile (or so it seems). At the apex go straight through a 4-way and head downhill. Build speed as the downhill is short and again you find a very steep climb for just a few hundred meters. The rest is basically scenic downhill, first covering some swichbacks then finding a gravel road (go left) that takes you down into a meadow with spectacular views of the Sawtooth Range (pictured). There are multiple options to turn and extend the ride but take the most obvious, counter clockwise track, well traveled path get back to the highway at Lower Stanley.

Getting there
From Stanley, go through Lower Stanley. After passing the last of the cabins it is the first pull out on your left (about 1/4 mile from last structure). Park and ride.
