			Mountain Biking John's Trail

#130 of 713 mountain bike trails in Utah

One of the great Park City Mountain Resort trails. It can be accessed by lift
service from PayDay or by riding up King Road or Sweeney's singletrack. Ride
this twisting trail through the Aspens. There are lots of roots and tight
squeezes to give a fun challenge to the ride.

From town, ride up King Road (long, tough uphill on paved, then dirt road).
Go past any gates you come to. Eventually, you will come to abandoned
mine buildings. This is how you are getting close to the singletrack. Go up
the next hill and it curves to the right. After curve, singletrack starts on the
right (it starts on the left also, but for this loop, we are going right). Take
that until you get to a chairlift (Bonanza). Go right up the dirt road hill there
until you get to another chairlift (Town). Go right as you approach the
chairlift and it goes up that hill there (steep!) to John's Trail downhill. Take
John's down and it has options for trails back to town (420 back to King or
Sweeney's to town, etc).

You have to stay focused on John's Trail which twists and turns as it meanders through dense aspen forest! There are lots of narrow gaps to navigate between the trees, all at the same time as you're watching out for roots that will try to unbalance you. It's quite intense - you won't be able to build up a lot of speed.
It's a two-way shared trail but it's nearly always ridden down hill and it's not popular with walkers. It starts near the Mid Mountain Trail and drops you at Sweeney's at the bottom so you end up near downtown Park City.
It's less than two miles long and slopes down nearly all the way, descending about 500 feet.
| ThankSuch a cool trail! Technical because of the tightness of the trees. I really liked the forest of Aspen trees that the trail winded through.
| ThankI rode this 3 times in one day and rented a dowhill bike from Pine Mountain Outfitters (great place) Good technical through the aspen which requires tilting handle bars and manuevering past tree trunks. mostly downhill. Sweet trail
