This is one of the most epic alpine ascents you can do in all of British Columbia; the route certainly reflects that reality. From the end of the road, the trail, narrow, technical, and mostly unrideable, winds its way up the lower slopes. The forest scenes you encounter on this segment are some of the most beautiful around with towering trees and avalanche shoots plentiful. Because of the large presence of bears in the area, don't be afraid to bring bear spray.
After a monstrous set of switchbacks, you will emerge into some of the most stunning alpine terrain imaginable. The numerous crystal clear alpine lakes surrounded by sheer cliffs on the route make great spots for an overnight stay. As you climb higher, the whole of British Columbia will be at your eyes' disposal. Everything from the jagged peaks of the Monashees to the rolling Interior Plateau will make a appearance. Once you've snapped a couple summit picks, ram down your saddle, say goodbye to the summit shelter, and prepare for your reward!
