Mountain Biking Jragung Loop

****   Add a review
#2 of 10 mountain bike trails in Indonesia
#8,066 in the world

Trail is a good mix of asphalt into jeep into singletrack into enduro singletrack and back out again. Some hike-a-bikes for a km or so, technical areas can be detoured. This is purely a foot and enduro moto trail, running through Dept. Forestry land. No services so bring your own everything. Temperatures can reach 100's in the spring and fall so bring lots of water.

This trail starts out as a beautiful 1.5 km riverside singletrack thru bamboo and teak forest, that lulls you into complacency, then devolves into a punishing 1km climb/hike-a-bike at average 40% grade to the top of a moto trail used predominantly by rural farmers with ersatz tire chains. Then the fun begins as you continue to climb a rollercoaster through a series of janky sluices filled with volcanic baby heads and swoopy sections with natural berms and drops, all surrounded by teak and mahogany forests. It is a loop with 50|50 climb to descent ratio that feels more like 80|20 at the 50km mark. Bring both cajones and isotonic. Snickers bars for the final 10km are highly recommended.
