Mountain Biking Kaiteriteri mountain bike park

This is a brilliant little mountain bike park with an excellent range of tracks, a small skills area, a pump track and a terrific beach to cool off in when you're done riding.

Best to pick up a map from Coppins Outdoor Store in Motueka before you come out but there is a large map board by the skills area where you come up from the road.

I rode Easy Rider, Cruise Control, Glade Runner, Revelation, Ziggy and then up Corkscrew to the top. There are all wide and rated easy except Corkscrew which is a bit steep in places. Talking about Corkscrew, it has some first-rate bermy corners and it's a two way track so it's a good one to come down on. I rode Jaws and Skullduggery back down to Easy Rider and they are loads of fun with humps galore, some speed, some nice corners, lots of technical touches and some air.

There is plenty of fun here if you can tear yourself away from the golden sands and clear blue waters of the bay. And just up the road is Abel Tasman National Park, famous for its coastal walk and sheltered sea kayaking. Kaiteriteri is a very popular place during summer.

Getting there
When you reach the coastal village of Kaiteriteri take the first car park you can find. Then ride back over the bridge and take the road on your right which is Martin Farm Road. The mountain bike park is less than 100 metres up that road. There is no car park there. Alternatively ride out of Riwaka, Motueka, Tasman, Mapua, etc along the Great Taste Trail and you'll enter the park from the other side.

It's a surprisingly varied mountain bike park for its size. It will keep you amused for several hours and you'll want to come back for more. There are plenty of wide easy trails for beginners and some really challenging ones too - practically all purpose built singletrack. It was dry while I was there but the ground looks porous so should be good in all weather.
